2/18/2024 0 Comments Wildermyth instal the newThere are already a number of suggestions folks have made for small improvements where the devs have had to say that they're not really feasible for updates/DLC because of how much the shape and scope of the game changed during development. I mean, a sequel would take years to develop, and would be building on top of what Wildermyth already has, not starting from scratch. Like in Fallout games, rather than for example…stories and world changing events/factions. I find most mods are best just add additional cosmetics/weapons/armors. But honestly that’s simply why I don’t play with mods for most of the time. It’s hard for user generated mods to truly match up with the base game. It’s so much better to improve an already great game, and turn it into a masterpiece, rather than remaking everything all over again every few years with graphical improvements and minor changes. But still needs the floor, paint, furnishings, etc added. It’s like a house with all the bones done. Vanilla Wildermyth is excruciatingly bland once you’ve seen most of the events and finished the campaigns. Wildermyth is seriously just released and to truly tap into its greatness it really needs more updates and content additions. Rather than a DLC campaign, I think I'd rather see a bunch of new events added in future updates, just to make the procedurally-generated campaigns more dynamic. which makes any mod that injects new events into the game feel pretty out-of-place. Wildermyth strikes a good balance w/ its very idiosyncratic tone, but the flip side is that none of the user mods do a great job matching that tone. and writing consistently well while also accounting for player agency and roleplay options is excruciatingly difficult.
